Made In Connemara

Spent a glorious few hours on the beach yesterday photographing our Jewellery.

This Silver Anam Cara Pendant has Anam Cara written in the ancient Irish form of writing called Ogham on one side. On the reverse side it has a design made by casting the Silver into a mould made from Quartz Crystals from the nearby Beanna Beola Mountains.

It's a New Year and we are already creating new designs from our Studio in Connemara. Each Anam Cara Silver Pendant is a unique design. Once it is sold we set about designing and making a new one. This year we are going to design and make a series of Anam Cara (Soul Friend) Rings and Earrings.

In 1949 my Grandfather Séamus Ó Murchadha unveiled a plaque to commemorate those that served under and with him in the 1916 Rising against the British Empire. He was Captain of the 4th Battalion stationed at Marrowbone Lane Distillery and served under Éamon Ceannt. This plaque went missing and turned up two years ago in the City West Hotel. It is now residing in Galway City Museum. Séamus Ó Murchadha's daughter Gráinne Uí Néill (now 96) unveiled the found plaque at Galway Museum on September 27- 2018

Beautiful sunny day in Connemara yesterday so we a break from the Studio and went for a drive to Clifden, Kylemore and The Inagh Valley.

This is my first painting of the year, painted during rainy and grey January 2018. Maybe the grey miserable weather was the reason I choose warm bright colours? Who knows really what inspires a painting, it's a combination of emotions, dreams and inspirations from all my surroundings.

There are signs that this terrible Stormy Winter is about to leave us! I took these photographs of Daffodils the other day. The Daffodills are popping up all around the Studio in Connemara. Photographed with the Daffodil is our latest design in the Anam Cara (Soul Friend) series. This is a Hat Pin and it is also available as a Scarf and Coat Pin.

This is a short video about part of the process of making the Connemara Pebble Pendant. A pendant that is inspired by my love of stones found by the Atlantic Ocean here in Connemara.

I love walking by the Atlantic Ocean, it's my place to unwind and dream of creations.
